Lil Pats Basketball Camp A Huge Success

The Clarkson-Leigh Girls Basketball team hosted their annual Lil Pats Basketball Camp on June 6th and 7th for any girls and boys entering grades 2-8. This year’s camp was once again a giant success with a record 94 participants from Clarkson, Leigh, St. Edward and even a participant from Indiana.  Campers worked fundamentals that were led by the high school players for the first half of camp and then participated in contests such as Hot Shot, Speed Dribbling, Free Throw Contest, and knockout.  Each grade division also had teams that they competed against each other in in Relay Dribbling, Free Throws, and Around the World Shooting. Campers received a T-Shirt, Bracelet, and Gatorade for participating in the camp. The Girls Basketball motto for the upcoming season and the camp motto for the week was “Contagious Positivity and No Complaining.” The importance of both a positive attitude and being optimistic were stressed to campers and they received a red/white/blue bracelet with the words on them.  A special thanks to former athletes Alyssa Novotny (Morningside Basketball) and Christopher Konicek (Morningside Football) for all their help with shooting form work (B.E.E.F) and defensive drills. Thank you also to all the high school girls athletes and coaches who helped make the camp a giant success. Be sure to check out the instructional/open gym schedule on the school’s website for remaining open gyms for the summer.
