Student Spotlight: Cully Cerv

Cully Cerv is a senior at Clarkson Public Schools and currently living with her parents, Adam and Ann Cerv (Ann is the art teacher at Clarkson Public Schools).

Cully is involved in volleyball and track. She chose to go out for volleyball because she’s loved it since junior high, and she really loves her team. She chose to go out for track because she likes how it is co-ed and track meets are really fun to go to.  Her favorite of the two would have to be volleyball because she always wanted to be at practice - there was never a day this season that she didn’t want to go.  “My team was amazing, and we accomplished so much more this year than in the past seasons.”

Cully has two ideas for what she wants to be when she get older. The first idea is a dental hygienist because she is obsessed with people’s teeth and smiles and braces really intrigue her. If she decides to be a dental hygienist, she wants to attend Iowa Western or UNMC. Her second career option is to be a child life specialist because she likes helping people and she would get to talk to children who are sick at hospitals and tell them the procedures they will be getting and how they will benefit from it.  It’s also nice to know that she would be there for the kids. If she decides to be a child life specialist, she wants to attend Northeast in Norfolk for the first two years and then transfer.

If Cully could describe herself with one word, she said it would have to be “indecisive” because she is always questioning decisions. She also chose it because she is halfway through her senior year and she can’t decide what she wants to do with her life or where to go to college.

Cully said that her inspiration is Helen Evans.  Helen has lived a successful life, and she is still hilarious and always has a smile on her face. Her stories from her lifetime are always interesting because she has seen a lot. Cully hopes to be like Helen when she is 90+ years old.  That is a life worth living!
