Student Spotlight: Halee Steffensmeier

This week’s student in the spotlight is Halee Steffensmeier. Halee is a sophomore this year at the Clarkson High School. She is currently living with her parents Rod and Amy Steffensmeier. Halee also has a younger brother, Trey, who is in the 5th grade.

When Halee grows up she's not really for sure what she wants to be because she has so many interests that are so different from each other. She is thinking about three things she wants to be when she grows up. The first thing she is thinking about becoming is a teacher because she is really good with kids. The second thing she is thinking about is becoming a writer because she just has been interested in that ever since she was a little kid. The third thing she is thinking about is also interior design because she is just interested in it. Halee is considering going to college at Doane because her cousin went there, and she likes to set her goals high and achieving some good scholarships to get there someday. She also chose it because they have many different programs for anything else she is interested in.

The sports Halee is involved in this year are volleyball, basketball, and track. She chose to go out for volleyball because she loves the adrenaline that comes with it when she is playing a game. She also really loves her team and loves to play it. Halee is the very excited to be the libero on the team because it is a really big accomplishment, and she hopes to be good at it. She chose to go out for basketball because her dad has been coaching her since she was in the 3rd grade, and he's always pushing her to be her best in it. She chose to go out for track because she loves to run, and she likes to think that she is kind of fast. Last year she made it to state track, and it was a really cool, new experience for her. She hopes she can make it back there this year or next year.

Halee's inspiration would have to be her mom. Her mom works harder than anyone she knows, every single day. Her mom always puts her family first and very rarely has time to herself. When Halee or her brother are playing one of the many sports they do, they know that their mom is supporting them no matter what. Her mom is also like her best friend because she knows she can tell her anything.
