Field Trip to the Zoo
On Thursday, May 11, the 4th, 5th, and 6th graders visited the Henry Doorly Zoo in Omaha, Nebraska.
The top exhibit was the new baby giraffe that was born on April 30. They’ve currently been having a competition on naming the baby. The name will be chosen on May 17th. The students also got to see a baby gorilla, named Kgosi, that was born on January 18, 2017.
One of the fun facts that the elementary was surprised by was that elephants are left and right tusked, just how humans can be right- and left-handed. You can tell by the shorter one; if the left one is shorter, then they are left-tusked.
Thankfully, it was a beautiful day with perfect weather. It was recorded that they went over 17,000 steps.
