In The Patriot Spotlight: Sara McEvoy

This week junior Sara McEvoy has been chosen for the student spotlight. Sara McEvoy’s parents are Bob and Heather McEvoy. Sara has a younger brother and sister: Thomas is a freshman, and Samantha is a seventh grader. Sara attended Humphrey Public Schools through fifth grade, and then she transferred to Clarkson Public Schools in the sixth grade.

Sara has played volleyball for seven years, basketball for three years, and track for four years. Her favorite sport is volleyball. She loves playing sports with her teammates because she has a great group of girls to play with. She has played the clarinet in band for six years.

Sara's favorite part of high school is her friends. She said her friends make school better. Sara’s least favorite part of high school is late nights with homework. Her favorite teacher is her dad, Mr. McEvoy, but, her favorite class is English, especially literature. Sara said that Mrs. Morfeld makes the class really enjoyable: “It’s always a good time in seventh period English.”

After high school, her goal is to attend Notre Dame. She is thinking about a business major or something dealing with web design.

Sara said every Saturday she and her family get together and watch Notre Dame football. She said it is fun to cheer on the Irish with her family. Sara is more of a movie watcher than a book reader, and her favorite types of movies are action, horror, and comedies.
