Patriots Take on Omaha Nation in Football
The Clarkson-Leigh Patriots played the Omaha Nation Chiefs in Macy on September 15, 2017. The Patriots kicked the ball off at 7:00 pm to Omaha Nation, and they returned it to their own 20-yard line. The first quarter began, and senior linebacker Jacob Gall set the tone with a back-breaking hit. The Patriots began to push ahead, and senior Tony Bruhn scored the first touchdown with a very nice 13-yard run into the end zone. By the second quarter, the Patriots led 45 to 0.
The Patriots kicked the ball off in the second half and tackled a Chief down at the 20-yard line. Senior Hector Mendoza came in on a corner blitz and knocked the ball right out of the Chief's hand. Junior Travis Stanley got the fumble recovery.
The Patriots won the game with a score of 53 to 6. Coach Jim Clarkson said, "Friday night's win was a great reward for the work the guys have put in. We were physical and had good execution. Hopefully, we can build off this win as the season progresses.”
