In The Patriot Spotlight: Vicky Miller

Each week a Clarkson High School student or Clarkson Public Schools staff member will be randomly selected to be "In the Patriot Spotlight."  This week's Patriot is Mrs. Vicky Miller. She is married to Chris Miller, and they have two daughters: Natalie, who is three, and Emily, who is six months old.

Mrs. Miller attended Wayne State College for four years, and she attended the University of Nebraska at Kearney for two years. When she was growing up everybody told her she should become a teacher, but she wanted to do her own thing not what everyone else wanted her to do, so she went to college for something else, but she realized her senior year that she wanted to become a teacher. She realized it because all of the things she did in college was teaching; she would tutor people at the college and translate for people at the high schools in the area.

In high school, Mrs. Miller’s favorite subjects were English, choir, and band. She liked all of the teachers. She really liked to read, and she likes music in general. She has been playing the violin for around twenty-five years - since she was in kindergarten. She played it because her mom had one and had never learned how to play it.

Mrs. Miller’s favorite thing about teaching is the “lightbulb moments” when a student figures something out or they put two and two together. She also likes it when they get excited about a project that they are doing. If Mrs. Miller wasn’t a teacher she would be a stay at home mom. She said that when she was in preschool, she wrote down that she wanted to be a mom, and now that she is one she would love to just stay home with them all day.
