The Senior Class Applies to College

On September 12, 2018, the senior class took a period to apply to colleges. Counselor Mrs. Jennifer Kappel started out by telling the students the basics of applying to college. She talked about how community colleges would take a shorter time to apply for than universities. She finished up by handing out individual transcripts, and then the students were sent to work.
During their work time, many students had a hard time going through the application process. There was a lot of frustration in the room. Mrs. Kappel said, “This is by far the hardest part of getting accepted into college. Once this is part is over, you can relax a little bit.”
Once the students were done applying, they were able to sign a poster and list the colleges they applied for. The poster hangs on the wall as a reminder to the seniors that they have accomplished their goals. The seniors are always welcome to add more to the list if they apply anywhere else.
Overall, it was a successful class period. Despite some initial frustration, it was a great start to new beginnings as they walked out of class with smiles on their faces.
