Cyclones Take a Step From Last Year

The Cyclone softball team started their regular season, 2-1, at the Wayne Softball Tournament on August 20. Last year, the Cyclones took third place home, but this year they stole second place.

The Cyclones went head on with Pierce for the first game, beating them 7-5. After the first game with emotions running high, they took on Centura/Central Valley, beating them 14-1. Finally, while playing the last game of the day for the championship, the ladies faced a state tournament team, the Wayne Bluejays. After a hard fought game, the Highway 91 Cyclones fell short, losing the game.

Junior Kiara Stewart from Dodge reached her 300th career strikeout at the tournament. Senior Megan Vennemen said, “We played our absolute best here at this tournament.  I can’t wait to see what else this team has in store!”
