In The Patriot Spotlight: Linda Vodehnal

Each week a Clarkson High School student or Clarkson Public Schools staff member will be randomly selected to be "In the Patriot Spotlight." This week’s Patriot is Linda Vodehnal. Linda is married to Alden, and they have been together for 42 years. They have four kids: Cameron, Nicholas, Zachary, and Tyson. She is a cook assistant at CPS, and she’s worked here for 21years.

Linda’s loves everything about her job, especially being able to see the kids everyday and give them a hard time. Her favorite thing to make at school is sub sandwiches because she knows that the kids like them and they are easy to make. Her least favorite thing to make is spaghetti and grilled cheese because they have to make such a big portion, so it takes a while. Her favorite thing to eat is steak; it’s delicious and they have a lot in the freezer at home. Her favorite family tradition is Christmas because the whole family is together at home at one time.

She attended Clarkson High School where her favorite class was home economics. The class dealt with the economics and management of the home, family, and community. She liked it because she got to learn everyday tasks that she used the rest of her life, like cooking, cleaning, and child care. She actually disliked school, so she disliked all of the other subjects, but now she loves it.

Linda has lived on a farm for 40 years, and her favorite part is the privacy and knowing that no one is watching her or can see her. If Linda wasn’t working at CPS, she thinks she would still be a cook at the nursing home because that’s where she worked before she came here. On the way to school, Linda looks forward to seeing the other girls in the kitchen because they are her friends and they always have fun together.
