In the Patriot Spotlight: Becky Schneider

Each week a Clarkson High School student or Clarkson Public Schools staff member will be randomly selected to be "In the Patriot Spotlight." This week’s Patriot is Mrs. Rebecca Schneider. Mrs. Schneider is an elementary para at Clarkson Public Schools. Mrs. Schneider and Mr. Thomas Lee Schneider have been together for 7 ½ years, but they’ve been married for 6 years. They have three kids: Kendall, who is a fourth grader, Paislee, who is in the morning pre-school session, and Camille, who is 9 months old.

Before Mrs. Schneider started working at CPS she worked Columbus and was ready for a change. She was tired of paying for gas and daycare, so when the para position opened up, she thought that it would be a great opportunity. She wanted to get her foot in the door and see what working in a school was all about. Her favorite part of her job is getting to help little kids learn. She loves it when they are struggling with a problem and then the light bulb turns on and they finally get how to solve it. She also loves all of the stories the kids share with her.

Ever since Mrs. Schneider was in middle school, she has played volleyball. She’s always loved the whole aspect of the game because it’s physical, emotional, and mental all at once. She really loves that it’s a battle of momentum, and it can go either way. Mrs. Schneider is the head coach of the high school Patriot volleyball team.  Her favorite part of coaching is seeing the hard work and the growth that turns into success. The girls on the team always put in a lot, so when they succeed, it’s so rewarding for her as well.

If Mrs. Schneider had to choose one word to describe herself, it would be “creative” because her mind is always going 80 million different ways, and no matter what she is doing she is always looking to change things up. Mrs. Schneider’s inspiration would have to be her husband because he is a very hard worker, he’s always motivated, and he’s always positive. He always sees the cup half-full no matter what the situation is.
