Peg Jeffres Memorial Scholarship

Peg Jeffres Memorial Scholarship

The Peg Jeffres Memorial Scholarship was established in 2021 to honor Peg’s memory. Ms. J was a dedicated elementary teacher, basketball and volleyball coach at Clarkson Public School for 37 years. Peg was an avid fan of Husker volleyball and a passionate teacher. This scholarship was made possible by donations from those who dearly loved and respected Ms. J and wished to honor her memory. A scholarship has been made available to a graduating senior from Clarkson High School who plans to attend college for Elementary Education. The first recipient of this scholarship is Melissa Bunner, daughter of James and Dawn Bunner. Melissa is in her first year of Elementary Education at the University of South Dakota.

Melissa stated, “I am very honored and thankful to be selected as the recipient of the Peg Jeffres Memorial Scholarship. I would like to express my sincere gratitude to the donors for making this scholarship possible. Ms. J was a kind person who cared about our education. Even though she retired before I had the privilege of being her student, I always looked forward to having her as a substitute teacher. She is one of many responsible for motivating me to become an educator.”
