In The Patriot Spotlight: Dawn Bunner

Each week a Clarkson High School student or Clarkson Public Schools staff member will be randomly selected to be "In the Patriot Spotlight."  This week's Patriot is Dawn Bunner. Her parents are Loi and Jenie Glause. She has been married to James Bunner for 25 years in April. She has three kids: Thomas, who is 22 years old; Bradley, who is 18 years old; and Melissa, who is 14 years old. Melissa is currently an eighth grader at CPS.

Dawn has been working at CPS for eight years. She works in the preschool room full time. If she wasn’t doing what she is doing today, she would probably do something in accounting because that was what she originally went to college for.

Her greatest accomplishment in life is being a stay-at-home mom and surviving. She loves family traditions because they are something her kids will always remember. Every Fourth of July weekend, they go to the lake with her sister and her family. Another tradition is every New Year’s Eve they go to the movie theater and watch a family movie.

Cancer changed Dawn by making her focus on what is important in life and knowing there are certain things that aren’t worth stressing over. She says, “It is heartwarming to see all of the support, and I appreciate everyone’s thoughts and prayers.” She also said that the Clarkson community has been very giving.

If Dawn had a superpower, it would be the power or knowledge to find a cure for all illnesses.  It would put an end to all of the hurt that so many people and families go through.
