Drivers Education Information

February 06, 2019

January 24, 2019

Dear Parents:

Driver’s Education will be starting soon.  To be eligible to take driver’s education, a student must meet the following requirements:

The Nebraska Department of Motor Vehicles requires that:

1.     Students who want to take Driver’s Education class must be 14 years of age by October 15, 2019.  They must also have a school learner’s permit, a school permit, a learner’s permit or a provisional operator’s permit to do the driving portion of the class.

2.     If they are 13 years old and will be 14 years old by October 15th, they do not need a learner’s permit to drive with the instructor, but once they turn 14 years old they have to have the learner’s permit to drive.

I will be teaching the Driver’s Education Course in the months of March, April, May, and if needed June.  By state law, the students must complete 20 hours of classroom instruction and 5 hours of driving time.  Anyone missing any of the classroom time cannot complete the class until missed time is made up.  My time is very limited, due to having triplets at home, teaching, coaching and teaching driver’s education to two other schools.  There will be an additional fee of $20.00 per hour for making up any missed classroom time.

The schedule for the classroom instruction will be provided soon.  The driving instruction will be done throughout March, April, May and June.  Actual dates and times will be decided as I meet with the students and establish a driving schedule.

The tuition for Driver’s Education is $235.00 + $30.00 (school charge for vehicle maintenance) = total $265.00.  The tuition must be paid the first day of class.  Cash, check or money order may be used to pay for the driver’s education class.  Please make checks or money orders payable to McDuffee’s Driving School, LLC.

If you have any questions, please contact me at 402-719-5758 or jmcduff@sstrojans.org .

Thank you and safe driving!
